On Saturday, we decorated our bikes and wagons because......
we had our first block party! This was a first since we moved here 8 years ago. It was so much fun and a great way to meet lots of neighbors! They blocked off our road and it kicked off with a kids bike parade.
All the kids got together beforehand to decorate thier bikes with crepe paper and balloons.
We did a countdown and said "go" but it turned into more like a race than a parade.
Gracie rode her Dora bike as fast as her little legs could go.
Here's all the kids biking down the street.
Chuck pulled the little ones in the wagon.
Some of the kids set up a lemonade stand and sold cookies and cupcakes for 10 cents.
We had fun drinking the lemonade.
There were some kids games too. First they had a water balloon contest. Presley loved this! Although he liked throwing it at the ground so it would pop rather than throwing it at Gracie.
Splash!
We played Bozo Buckets.
Gracie did pretty good.
Everyone got a prize and Presley picked a new water gun! Look out!
We also had a bouncy house to play in.
We had to wait until some of the big kids got out.
They had an egg toss for the adults too.
Gracie had fun riding her bike up and down the street with our neighbor John. It was nice that the road was closed and they could just play in the street without worrying about cars speeding down the street.
Our buddy Jackson even stopped by and rode Gracie's princess scooter.
And Presley borrowed a bike from the neighbor and did pretty good with the pedaling.

The party continued to until the early morning. Chuck cooked out hot dogs and hamburgers and we set up a tent in front of our house for sides and desserts. It was fun and I met lots of new neighbors including some who have lived near me all these years but I have never stopped and talked to. Everyone seemed very nice (except for these new punk neighbors)and it was a great time. We are already planning a fall festival block party!
