Great and Easy Gifts to Make! (from Pinterest)

So these are gifts that I made last year, yes, last year. I meant to post about these after the holidays last year but time got away from me. I had to wait unti after the holidays obviously but now that I think about, this is actually better because now hopefully I can give you some ideas for this year.  (to those of you who read this anyways).  I got all these ideas from one of my favorite places, Pinterest!  My husband was ready to take my computer away because I was making so many Pinterest crafts last holiday season. Not only for gifts, but crafts with the kids too.  I have lots I have planned to do this year too.  Wait and see.  But check out these for now....
First up, these notepad holders.  Super cute and super easy.  I bought clear picture frames and cut scrapbook paper to fit them. I added some ribbon (cuz I love me some ribbon) and some stickers and wall-ah!  All you have to do is stick on some post-its.  It only cost a couple of bucks to make and I made these for all my friends last year.
I put them in these red bags that I found in my scrapbooking area and made these little tags with my punch.  Cute huh?
A fun gift for the kiddies that Santa Gil gave them last year was this candycane playdough.  Again,  the ingredients to make it were cheap and you can whip up a batch in no time at all.  You have to make two different batches in the 2 different colors.  The hard part was twisting them together to make it look candycaneish.  I bought mason jars to put them in.
I made these calendars last year and thought they turned out awesome.  The squares were made from paint samples.  That was easy to get since my husband works at Menards.  I bought white picture frames and dry erase markers to write the month and dates and attached them with ribbon. My only suggestion is that you buy a bigger frame.  I bought 8x10 and it was squishy.
These pretty cups were for Gracie's teachers last year.  I bought mugs and put a Starbucks gift card in them. I made a tage that says "Thanks a latte for all you do."  I hope they liked them.  I'm actually not sure if they were coffee drinkers or not but who doesn't like Starbucks?  They have tea and yummy treats if not right?
I made these for our neighbors last year.  I bought a box of Ho-ho's and a box of Ding Dongs  and tied them together with ribbon.  I made a little tag that said "Ho, ho, ho. Merry Christmas.  From, your ding dong neighbors."  I loved it!  Cheap and funny.  I have a great idea for this year already too but I'll share later.  Pinterest has tons of fabulous ideas for this.

I made this too.  The 12 Dates of Christmas.  Each month has it's own little card with a little poem that says what you and your significant other will do for a date that month.
I put them in envelopes like this.  You can only open the envelope for that month.  So really, besides the jelly of the month club, it's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year!
Sadly, as pretty and cute as these little cards looked, we didn't use any of them.  Not a one.  Sure we had a couple of dates this passed year.  A movie here or there, a Kid Rock concert over the summer, a wedding in St. Louis, but that's about it. Maybe that should be our New Year's resolution....make time for dates and spend more time with just the two of us!
We also wanted to make something speical for our little friends too so we made these magnets. Gracie helped me paint some clothespins and we bought the wooden pieces at the craft store for cheap.  We glued them on the pins and added magnets to the back so that you could hang it on your fridge and use it to hang up pictures or artwork or whatever.  We put each child's name on it too.  I thought they turned out cute.

So there you have it. Some neat and inexpensive gifts that you can make.  None were very time consuming and they all turned out cute. I am excitedly working on some new ones for this year!  Stay tuned  find out what they are.  Or maybe just stop by this time next year because I'll probably forget anyways!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend and Return of Frankenstein!

This Thanksgiving was full of love, laughter, smiles, food, and fun!  On Thanksgiving we went to my mom and dad's and the eating was nothing short of yummy! We had turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggie casserole (made by me), Thanksgicing lasagna (cuz my sis doesn't like turkey), and some yummy pumpkin fudge and pumpkin gingerbread trifle.  We tried to get some good family shots but as you see, it is difficult to do.

One thing that I was not thankful for was the sickies.....Gracie started with a low fever on Tuesday night and as of Sunday, it kept returning. Poor baby.  I did take her to the doctor on Saturday and she tested positive for the flu.  Nice.  Maybe I will look into the flu shot next year.....
I was thankful Grandpa and Grandma kept the kiddies over night because me and my girls had some Black Friday shopping to do!  This has become tradition.  We don't go in search of anything particular really and we aren't that crazy where we need to go wait in line at a store before it even opens but we did get up at 12:30 AM to go.  Let me tell ya that it was the perfect time to go because Target and Walmart opened up Thanksgiving night.  We hit Target, Walmart, and Kohls and walked right up to the checkout.  I got some good deals and some stuff for me!  We also managed to go to Carson's, Toys-R-Us, Old Navy, Five Below, Menards, Michaels, Kirklands, New York and Co, and Sears.  We also stopped to eat breakfast at Diamond's.  It was a fabulous time and I even came home with money to spare!  We wrapped it up at 9 am.  Good times.
Saturday night, our Elf on the Shelf, Frankenstein, came back to visit.  SHE (he went from a "he" to a a "she" last year cuz she got a skirt) came with all kinds of goodies.  Snow coverered donuts from the North Pole, the book, a letter, and a naughty or nice checklist.  Plus each of my kids had a little pile of goodies.  It looks like a lot but really, it's all from the dollar store.  They each got a little pack of ornaments to hang on the tree in their room, some Christmas books, including one about Jesus for Gracie, some Christmas crafts like foamy gingerbread men and Christmas trees, ornaments to paint, and a foamy house.  The girls each got a little Christmas Barbie and Bub got a blow-up Avengers sword and shield (not very Christmasy but oh well).  Oh, and Gracie got a Princess Christmas CD, Bubs, a Christmas Alvin and the Chipmunks (I"M sure I still have my cassette) and Evie got a Christmas Strawberry Shortcake movie.
Here is the letter that Frankenstein left.
Here is the checklist that Frankenstein will be updating daily.  I think Frankenstein forgot to read the words carefull though and didn't mean to start them all on the naughty list already.  Oops!  FYI, the naughty/nice list I printed from Pinterest and the green frame was one I had from Ikea.
The next morning, the kids were up bright and early as usual.  It took them awhile to actually notice it at first but when they did....
they were so excited!
Frankenstein has some great ideas for this year.  Stay tuned to keep updated!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it seems weird to have Christmas pictures on a Thanksgiving post but this was my attempt to take Christmas pictures for our Christmas card.  I could list and list what I am thankful for but instead I'm just going to state what I am most thankful for and that is my 3 precious children.  They make me smile, cry, yell, nervous, exhausted, proud, mad, and all kinds of things but I wouldn't trade anything because I am so very thankful that I was put on this earth to be their mom.  I love them with all my heart and soul and thankful that they were brought into my life. I would be lost without them.  They are my whole world.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Evie and Presley's Birthday Parties!

Warning: This post is long and full of pictures. Too many pictures that they somehow got out of order. But you love Evie and Presley, you will love reading about their 3rd birthday!
Like I said, the pictures got out of order.  Today was actually Evie and Presley's real birthday.  We woke up this morning to give them our presents.  Actuall;y, Gracie woke us up to open presents.
Evie was a lucky girl and got Doc McStuffins.
She even got some Doc McStuffins movies.
Gracie picked out this Playdough Princess set too.  You make their dresses with the dough.  Pretty sweet.
Gracie also picked out Captain Hook set for Bub. It comes in a treasure box and has a map, telescope, sword, and even a hook!
Presley got some Toy Story racecars.
And Evie got a new doll.  Gracie thinks it's an Amerian Girl Doll.  Sadly it's not.  Those are too expensive. It's a My Generation Doll from Target. But they do sell outfits and accessories for these dolls too at a much cheaper price.  This is Sadie.
Evie also got a new hat and mitten set for the winter.  It's a purple (her favorite) owl.
Presley got a Thomas Train set.  He has the Take-n-Play sets and this one goes with it too.  It's pretty cool.  It's a gold mine.  (I bought most of these gifts over the summer when they were on clearance.)
One of Bub's favorite gifts was his new Avengers sweatshirt.
And like Evie, he got a new hat and mitten set.  It's a blue owl.  You know how I love matching!
Gracie couldn't wait to play pirates with Presley with his new set she picked out!
Evie got some new books too which she already has read like 20 times.  She even read while Chuck recorded her.  She likes to read it out loud to herself.
Here's the pirate boy in training.  Argh!
Evie got a new bed for her babies (that I found at a garage sale for $2!)
She loved it!  She put her babies to sleep right away!
After birthday presents, the birthday boy and girl decided they wanted to have their birthday lunch at the mall. I'm not sure why they like it so much but they do.  We even went and saw Santa but once up close, they wouldn't pose for a picture.
Tonight we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner and for more presents.
We even had some from Auntie Amy, Gigi, and Aunt Judy and Uncle Allen. (more to continue later.)

Happy Birthay Evie and Presley!
