You are 18 years old today
I wish the years would slow down
But it doesn't look like it will be that way
18 years sure came fast
You just graduated high school
You even graduated with honors
Being part of National Honors Society was so cool
You earned some awards too
English, for always getting A's
And the Presidential Education Award
Because your GPA is great due to good grades
You have a close knit group of friends
You sure have a lot of fun together
Going for food, tea, or shopping
These are the memories you will have forever
Being 18 is a pretty big deal
You're kind of like an adult now
You can vote, join the army, and get a credit card
And many doctors appointments are up to you now
Soon you will be heading off to college
You're headed to Ohio at Otterbein
It's a bit of drive
But I know you'll be just fine
You're going to study zoology
You just love all living things
I can't wait to hear about what you learn
And all the fun experiences it will bring
Being 18 is going to bring new things
It's going to be fun and scary too
But I know you're going to be great
All you gotta do is keep being you
Make smart choices
But have fun too
Meet new friends and live it up
And call your mom when you're feeling blue
I'm so proud of you
You amaze me everyday
The world is waiting for you
