The Return of Frankenstein (Our Elf on the Shelf)!

With Thanksgiving being so late this year, our little elf friend, Frankenstein, came later than she usually does. She usually comes the weekend after Thanksgiving but it's already December!
Oh well, she came last night to set up for the big North Pole Breakfast.  Nothing fancy, just some "snow-covered" donuts from the North Pole.

She came with all kinds of goodies too.  She hung a Christmas countdown paperchain from the light fixture. She brought her Elf on the Shelf book so we could be reminded of the elf rules.  She also brought back with her the "Naughty and Nice" list from last year.  Every night she will decide who was naughty or nice and write their name under it.  For today, everyone is nice.  Everyone also got some mittens, the girls got Hello Kitty hats and Bubs got a Ninja Turtles hat.  The girls also got some leg warmers.  You gotta love the dollar spot!  They also each got a Christmas book (which was the same ones she brought with her last year but since I pack up our Christmas books with the Christmas stuff, they didn't even remember.)  They also each got a Christmas coloring thing.  Again, some leftovers that were stashed away from last year.

They did receive some new movies that we got for pretty cheap:  Barbie Christmas and Ruby and Max.  They were literally like $3 at Meijers! Oh, and one more thing....the book countdown.  Yes, every year starting on December 1st, Frankenstein leaves a basket of books.  One book to open every night unitl Christmas. Most books are Christmas books that we already had.  I bought a couple new books and the rest I ordered from book orders with bonus points!

She also left a note which Gracie woke me up by reading the entire thing to me this morning!
The kids woke up so super excited about the return of Frankenstein.  Presley is in love with his new hat.  You can even reverse it and be a different Ninja Turtle.  I'm told the orange one is "Mickey" and the blue one on the other side is "Leo."  I had no idea.  His favorite is Leo.  Whew!

So after we looked at the goods Frankenstein brought with her.....

the questions started rolling in.
Kids:  Why does Frankenstein come?
Mom:  Because Santa is really busy making sure all the toys are made for Christmas.
Kids:  How did Frankenstein get here?
Mom:  She flew.
Kids:  Why can't we touch her?
Mom:  She will lose her magic and won't be able to fly anymore.
Kids:  Did Santa make the stuff we got today?
Mom:  You betcha. (Although the mittens and hats were later spotted at the Target dollar spot and Gracie reported "Hey, Santa and Frankenstein shop at Target too!"
Kids:  Can Santa still see us?
Mom:  Yes. Remember he looks in his magic snowball to see us.
Kids:  Are kids on the naughy list?
Mom:  Yes.  Those are the kids who don't listen to their mommies and daddies and don't behave and don't clean up after themselves.
Kids:  We love Frankenstein.
Aww....now I need to check my elf on the shelf pinterest board to see what mischief Frankenstein will get into tonight.
