Johansen Farms!

Well it's been quite an eventful week around here so that's why I'm finally getting to post last week's pumpkin patch extravaganza now.  It's a tradition that we go here with my family as we started when the twins were little.  It is costly but worth the trip.  They love petting and feeding the animals, running through the maze, playing on the bouncy houses, going down the slides, riding the train, riding the ponies, going on a hayride, and just having fun!  We had a super nice day for it too!

Parades and Fire Stations!

We had a lot of fun this weekend!  First up we bundled up warmly on Saturday to go to the Homecoming Parade!  It was chilly but with 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts, winter coats, gloves, and hats, I think we managed to stay a little warm.
Presley was pretty excited about all the fire trucks in the beginning of the parade.

He even waved to the fire fighters.

They also love the marching bands.  First one up was my high school, Plainfield High School.  Although now because Plainfield is so big, its called Plainfield Central.

They were a good band and because the theme of the parade was Disney, they were playing "It's a small world."

I took this picture for my sister because it was Mary Poppins theme by one of the middle schools.

This one was really cute too as it was "Up."

Even our buddy Colton braved the cold to come!

We ran into our BFF's Jackie and Olivia too!

Evie and Presley's school, Bonnie McBeth came by.  We yelled to our friend Piper up on the float.  You can see her pink hat!

Evie was loving the parade and the only one who wanted to take a selfie with me.

When we got home, man the candy!  It was like we went trick-or-treating or something.

Later that day, the fire houses were having free open houses.  So we went to the one right by our house.

The kids were all excited.

But sadly no one was there as they had to go out on a call.  So we found another fire house and went to that one.  We got to go in the ambulance.

We got to go in the fire truck too.  Did you know there is a difference between a fire truck and a fire engine?  It was a learning experience for me too!

Of course they let us sit in it.

And Presley was checking out the suits and boots that they have to wear.

We even saw "the jaws of life."

The fireman showed us the camera they use to help spot people when it's smoky.

The kids thought that was pretty cool.

They showed us how they fill the engine with water.

They even  showed us the dive team boat.

Then we got to see how they live.  They have a big kitchen.  Each fireman is in charge of groceries and cooking for the day.  Our fireman told us he likes to make fried chicken.

Then we saw their tv room.  They had 8 blue lounger chairs.  They get to work in some comfy quarters (when they are not putting out fires of course).

It was neat that we got our own private tour of the fire house.  The kids and fun and the adults learned a lot too!

Math and Science Night!

Last week we got to go to preschool for Math and Science Night!
Evie and Presley were so excited.  And there was also a book fair going on so that was a bonus for them!  They each got to pick out a new book and show Mommy and Daddy around!
First up we did a little leaf rubbing.  They thought this was totally fun and they each did about 3 papers each!

They were so excited to show us around their school and tell us where everything is!

Next up,we got to make volcanoes erupt. They thought that was neat too.  I know we are going to have to do this at home.

This one was really neat too.  We got to be scientists and predict if the objects where going to sink or float.
Then we go to test them out in the water tables.

I was even wrong about the pumpkin.  Those little pumpkins can float!

Presley showed us where his classroom was.  He is in yellow lions.  They weren't using his classroom as an activity room so we took a picture outside of it.

Then we had to dig for clues in the rice.

This is Presley with his teacher Miss Megan.  She is super nice even though Presley would hardly talk to her.

And then Presley told us that this boy was in class and that his name was "Zach."  So we took a pic of them both. He told us they play cars together.

We moved to a different room and got to weigh pumpkins.
WE even tried to make them balance.

This was Presley's favorite one.
Then we found Evie's teacher, Miss Lynn and got a picture with her.  She is wonderful as well.  Evie adores her.

And she had to show us where her classroom, the blue bikes, are.

It was a lot of fun. Next week we get to go back for Pete the Cat night!
